Conference Proceeding: Curating and Publishing Digital Archives: The Case of "Mapping Jewish Los Angeles"

Through an ever-expanding series of collaborations with community partners throughout Los Angeles, the UCLA Alan D. Leve Center for Jewish Studies is creating a multimedia archive and a series of digital exhibitions called “Mapping Jewish Los Angeles” (http://mappingjewishla.org). The aim of the project is to “map” the diverse cultural and social histories of Jews in Los Angeles from the mid-19th century through the present. The project not only preserves the rich history of Jewish LA for generations to come, but also makes it accessible using cutting-edge digital technologies to stimulate new research, teaching, and community engagement throughout Los Angeles and beyond.
