Note:
The differences and similarities between Orthodox Judaism and Old Order Amish are explored in this story set in 1911. Jacob, a Jewish boy, is injured and taken in by an Amish farm family. He befriends an Amish boy of his own age who is resentful of his father's strictness and the limitations that his faith puts upon his actions. A satisfying ending resolves some of the Amish boy's problems without a complete break with his tradition.
