Note:
According to the Midrash Rabbah (Bereshit 99:1), God chooses “little” Mount Sinai because idolatrous worship had been performed on the tops of all the others, and Sinai’s unassuming and humble bearing is deemed the perfect spot. Barb Rosenstock’s story expands the “conversations” between God and the mountains, as well as the decision making process. Melanie Hall’s vibrant color illustrations give each mountain a distinct “personality.” The story follows the Midrash closely. The dialogue between the mountains could be used for reader's theatre.
