Note:
An accurate but dry account of the Nazi invasion of Denmark, its quiet resistance, and the slow but steady success of the Danish people’s actions in thwarting German domination. The book includes several important stories about grass-roots opposition to the Nazis. Several of these stories are told in some depth, including the General Strike of 1944. While there are only a few references to Jews, the mass escape of the Jewish population is blandly told as part of the story (p. 35-40). For younger readers that Ellen Levine's excellent Darkness Over Denmark, this is acceptable.
