Jewish Values: Ten Old Men and a Mouse

Publication Year:
Number of Pages:
32 p.
For the ten old men who make up the minyan at an old synagogue, the discovery of a mouse among the holy books is cause for alarm. After they fail to catch it, they have a change of heart because it turns out the mouse is quite a pleasant companion. With a little bed, pictures on the wall, a carpet, and daily treats, the mouse returns the favors by presenting the ten old men with a litter of babies. They're taken out to the country where they'll have a good home but the ten old men miss their pet until she shows up and makes herself at home with them again. Gentle humor, a heavy dose of nostalgia, and winsome illustrations tell a charming story that adults will probably appreciate more than children.
