Jewish Values: Boy Who Loved Words, The

Note:
An ebullient illustrated story that celebrates words. Selig is a boy who loves words, who collects them, and cherishes them. He consults a Yiddishe genie who advises him to find a "poipose." That purpose is to spread words like a Johnny Appleseed of words and as he does so, lovers adore one another, apologies restore friendships, teachers impart wisdom, and artists create masterpieces. Words appear everywhere in the story: scattered through the illustrations, on the endpapers, in a glossary, and especially in the narrative. The Jewish content is not explicit but Selig's family and certainly the Yiddishe genie imply it. A thoroughly delightful book!
