Note:
Brodsky's loose, deeply colored illustrations are in vivid contrast to the stark white pages of the book. Both animals and humans are rendered to resemble ancient Near Eastern art. They dramatically portray the biblical story of Jonah, which Brodsky tells seriously and with dignity. Although this can be considered a classic version of an oft-told Bible tale, its appropriateness for Jewish libraries is compromised by a depiction of God on the first page.
