Note:
Pinny is a clay pitcher with googly eyes, a smiley mouth, and feelings. He is figuratively shattered when the Temple in Jerusalem is sacked by Greek soldiers and all his friends - other pitchers - are literally shattered. After the victory of the Maccabees, Pinny is found and becomes the vessel through which a miracle occurs: oil for only one night is replentished (in Pinny) to last for eight. Mediocre in writing and illustration, this has some use as a way of presenting the miracle of Hanukkah to young children.
