Note:
Another of Rouss's "littlest" stories that are meant to make small children feel empowered by showing how other small things succeed. The little tree feels overwhelmed by all the towering trees around it and to make matters worse, they mock him, telling him that he's too insignificant for humans to cut down and use to make something for the synagogue being built. One might think that this would be good news to a tree but not here. Redemption comes when the little tree is discovered to be just right for the rollers of the Torah scroll. Told with awkward meter, forced verse, and garish illustrations, this is strictly for bibliotherapy purposes.
