Jewish Values: Always Remember Me
Number of Pages:
The author-illustrator tells the story of her own family history, focusing on the four strong Jewish women (her grandmother, mother, and two aunts) who most influenced her life. It is told by a grandmother to a little girl about her first life, before she came to America and is a story of love, courage, and tragedy, as the four women are caught up in the Holocaust, suffering but surviving. Each character is carefully individualized, with illustrations made to look like real-life photographs and documents. The story is reassuring and non-threatening, making it appropriate for somewhat younger children than is usual for Holocaust stories.
