Note:
Translated from the Hebrew by Betsy Rosenberg, this is a novel by the well-known Israeli writer, David Grossman. It is told in the first person by twelve year old, David. He has an elderly friend in a nursing home who is challenged to a pistol duel by another elderly man who accuses him of stealing a painting. To prevent either man from being harmed, David must think fast! He becomes a sleuth, unravelling the mystery of the men's past in Germany and their love for a beautiful woman. An interesting plot and setting and sound Jewish values.
