Part of the Art Revelations series (see Morris's The Life of Moses), this consists of art depicting women of the Hebrew Bible. Most of the painters are Old Masters and a short biographical sketch of each painter represented by a major work is given. The format is similar to the Morris book but the Christological references in that book are absent here. As an introduction, this does a good job.
