Note:
Based on Midrash, this very simple story for preschoolers portrays the silence in the world when G-d gave Israel the Torah. Large, bucolic illustrations are accompanied by just a few lines of text, describing the sounds that did NOT occur: the cows did not moo, the ducks did not quack, etc. Acceptable and useful as a story for the very young for Shavuot but artistically mediocre, especially in the depiction of humans, who all look inane.
