Note:
In another of his "Do-It-Yourself Jewish Adventure Series," Roseman again links history with imagination. Here a young survivor of the concentration camps confronts post-war anti-Semitism and comes to Palestine in 1945. He lives the prophet Jeremiah's promise that Jews "would always have a right of ownership to this sacred place." The author presents his protagonist with various choices and their consequences. The setting is in the pre-state and early statehood years. The choices readers are offered connect them with a broad sweep of Israeli experience: immigration, kibbutz life, the role of women, technology, Jewish identity, and religious differences to mention some. Roseman is a Reform rabbi and not surprisingly, he promotes the cause of Reform Judaism in Israel in this story.
