Note:
It's 1944 and in a small Southern town, a young teen named Bobby Lee Pomeroy sends a sample of her writing to the Great American Writers School. Encouraged by what she doesn't realize is a canned response, Bobby keeps writing, mainly her wry impressions of the people around her. A Jewish girl, new to town, is one of her subjects and while this constitutes the only Jewish content of the book, it adds to a very readable look at life during World War II. Bobby's letters are interspersed with the Great American Writers School's requests/demands for payment, making for a very humorous epistolary novel.
